It had revenues of over\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.charitynavigator.org\/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&amp;orgid=9365\">$2.2 million<\/a>\u00a0in 2011. All members of the CoP sit on AIPAC\u2019s executive committee. The Conference of Presidents focuses on lobbying the Executive branch while AIPAC concentrates on Congress.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 The American Israel Education Foundation (AIEF):<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aiefdn.org\/\">AIEF<\/a>\u00a0is a subsidiary of AIPAC that takes Congressional Representatives on all-expense-paid\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.legistorm.com\/trip\/list\/by\/sponsor\/id\/4922\/name\/American_Israel_Education_Foundation.html\">trips to Israel<\/a>. In August 2011,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/8301-503544_162-20089313-503544.html\">81 members of Congress<\/a>\u00a0from both parties took trips to Israel with the AIEF. Its annual budget is\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.charitynavigator.org\/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&amp;orgid=3265\">over $26 million<\/a><\/strong>, and its executive director, Richard Fishman, is officially \u201cnot compensated,\u201d but he receives\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.charitynavigator.org\/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&amp;orgid=3265\">$395,000<\/a>\u00a0annually from affiliates.\u00a0<em>Roll Call<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollcall.com\/news\/outside_groups_spent_big_on_congressional_travel-220745-1.html?ET=rollcall:e14954:33433a:&amp;st=email&amp;pos=eam\">reports<\/a>\u00a0that in 2012 \u201cThe American Israel Education Foundation spent more than $650,000 last year \u2014 more than any other group \u2014 to send more than 60 lawmakers and staffers to Israel for tours of Jerusalem, seminars on Israeli politics and discussions of asymmetric warfare, according to congressional travel filings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 The Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP):<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtoninstitute.org\/\">WINEP<\/a>\u00a0is a highly influential think tank that pushes Israel-centric Middle East policies. It was founded by a former AIPAC employee, and while it claims to promote a \u201cbalanced and realistic\u201d understanding of the Middle East, it is \u201cfunded by individuals\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightweb.irc-online.org\/profile\/Washington_Institute_for_Near_East_Policy\">deeply committed to advancing Israel\u2019s agenda<\/a>.\u201d It is frequently called upon by both the government and the media to provide \u201cexpert\u201d analysis on Middle East issues. Its 2010 revenues were\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.charitynavigator.org\/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&amp;orgid=5431\">$9.4 million<\/a>, and its net assets total\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.charitynavigator.org\/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&amp;orgid=5431\">$23.5 million<\/a><\/strong>. Former AIPAC member MJ Rosenberg stated: \u201cI was working at AIPAC and it was Steve Rosen who cleverly came up with the idea for an AIPAC controlled think-tank that would put forth the AIPAC line but in a way that would disguise its connections.\u201d More information is\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sourcewatch.org\/index.php?title=Washington_Institute_for_Near_East_Policy\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 Anti-Defamation League (ADL):<\/strong>\u00a0The ADL\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.adl.org\/about.asp?s=topmenu\">bills itself<\/a>\u00a0as a civil rights institution devoted to stamping out anti-Semitism. But in practice, it regularly works to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.adl.org\/israel\/advocacy\">promote Israeli interests<\/a>\u00a0and attacks virtually any prominent person who criticized Israel and labels them \u201canti-Semitic.\u201d It has also been involved in a large\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.counterpunch.org\/2002\/02\/25\/the-adl-spying-case-is-over-but-the-struggle-continues\/\">spying operation<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0against American citizens who opposed the policies of Israel and the Apartheid regime in South Africa. It is an architect of \u201chate crimes legislation\u201d that may effectively\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.foreignpolicyjournal.com\/2009\/07\/17\/record-shows-%E2%80%9Chate-crimes-prevention-bill%E2%80%9D-will-suppress-speech\">criminalize criticism of Israeli policies<\/a>. The ADL is a member of the CoP with revenues of around\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.charitynavigator.org\/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&amp;orgid=10657\">$60 million<\/a>\u00a0and net assets of over\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.charitynavigator.org\/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&amp;orgid=10657\">$115 million<\/a><\/strong>. Abe Foxman, its national director, makes\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/forward.com\/articles\/167238\/salaries-of-american-jewish-leaders\/\">$688,280 per year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (aka Stand for Israel):<\/strong>\u00a0Founded in 1983 by Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein \u201cto promote understanding between Jews and Christians and build broad support for Israel,\u201d it promotes\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ifcj.org\/site\/PageNavigator\/sfi_takeaction_advocate\">advocacy for Israel<\/a>\u00a0among mostly right-wing Christians. It has annual revenues of nearly\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.charitynavigator.org\/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&amp;orgid=3889\">$100 million<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022\u00a0Central Fund of Israel,\u00a0<\/strong>based in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eri-nonprofit-salaries.com\/?FuseAction=NPO.Summary&amp;EIN=132992985&amp;BMF=1&amp;Cobrandid=0&amp;Syndicate=No\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Manhattan<\/a>,<strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/greatnonprofits.org\/whitelabel\/reviews\/central-fund-of-israel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">says<\/a>\u00a0it funds \u201cover 250 charitable causes in Israel.\u201d A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/settlementdollars\/.premium-1.691838\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ha\u2019aretz<\/a>\u00a0investigation found it funneled much of its money to settlements; it has sent money to an extremist Israeli organization in which the\u00a0\u201crabbis heading the yeshiva published a book that discussed the circumstances in which non-Jews can be killed.\u201d It has received\u00a0<strong>\u201ctens of millions of dollars\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0in donations. In 2015 its revenue was\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/990.erieri.com\/EINS\/132992985\/132992985_2016_0dd50ad6.PDF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>$20 million<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It also\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eri-nonprofit-salaries.com\/?FuseAction=NPO.Summary&amp;EIN=132992985&amp;BMF=1&amp;Cobrandid=0&amp;Syndicate=No\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sponsors<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Reservists on Duty<\/strong>,\u00a0established in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/onduty.org.il\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2015<\/a>\u00a0by Israeli soldiers to travel to US college campuses to advocate for Israel and to train American Jewish students to speak on behalf of Israel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Gideon Project<\/strong>\u00a0was created by Reservists On Duty \u201cto give students fluent in English a chance to represent and defend Israel internationally after their service.\u201d Soldiers speak on campuses throughout the U.S. Video\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/gideon.onduty.org.il\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 Christians United for Israel (CUFI):<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cufi.org\/site\/PageServer\">CUFI<\/a>\u00a0is a right-wing Evangelical Christian organization run by\u00a0<strong>David Brog<\/strong>, a Jewish American attorney who previously\u00a0practiced corporate law in Tel Aviv, Israel. He\u2019s the author of\u00a0\u00a0<em>Reclaiming Israel\u2019s History.<\/em>\u00a0In 2007, the\u00a0<em>Forward<\/em>\u00a0newspaper listed Brog in its \u201cForward 50\u201d most influential Jews in America. The titular founder of CUFI is\u00a0John Hagee. CUFI, which distorts Biblical teachings,\u00a0has high-level contacts with the Israeli government. Despite a budget of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/forward.com\/news\/312078\/are-christian-zionists-the-800-pound-gorilla-in-the-pro-israel-room\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>$7 million<\/strong><\/a>, it may be\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ifamericaknew.org\/about_us\/evchristians.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">losing ground<\/a>\u00a0as more evangelicals learn the facts about Israel. It has a\u00a0lobbying arm, called\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/cufiactionfund.org\/welcome\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CUFI Action Fund<\/a><\/strong>, first reported in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/blogs\/right-turn\/wp\/2015\/07\/12\/get-ready-for-the-pro-israel-nra\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Washington Post<\/a>, run by Gary Bauer, one of the signers of the Statement of Principles of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rrojasdatabank.info\/pfpc\/PNAC---statement%20of%20principles.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Project for the New American Century (PNAC)\u00a0<\/a>on June 3, 1997. Bauer also serves on the board of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.committeeforisrael.com\/board\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Emergency Committee for Israel<\/a>.\u00a0In 2010 he received the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cufiactionfund.org\/team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Defender of Israel Award from the Zionist Organization of America<\/a>. CUFI Action Fund\u2019s Communications Director is\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cufiactionfund.org\/team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ari Morgenstern<\/a>, an Israeli citizen who previously\u00a0served at the Israeli Embassy in Washington. The fund, Bauer said, will have a multimillion-dollar budget and a dozen staffers who will focus on pro-Israel lobbying among members of Congress and presidential candidates. In 2017 it began a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/blogs\/congress-blog\/foreign-policy\/319637-cufi-public-policy-arm-the-new-sheriff-in-town\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">scorecard<\/a>\u00a0of legislators\u2019 every vote and comment about Israel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 Simon Wiesenthal Center:\u00a0<\/strong>According to its\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wiesenthal.com\/site\/pp.asp?c=lsKWLbPJLnF&amp;b=4441257#.UdJYXOuhVmA\">website<\/a>: \u201cThe Simon Wiesenthal Center is a global Jewish human rights organization that confronts anti-Semitism, hate and terrorism, promotes human rights and dignity, stands with Israel, defends the safety of Jews worldwide, and teaches the lessons of the Holocaust for future generations.\u201d It has \u201ca constituency of over 400,000 households\u201d in the US. It is headquartered in Los Angeles, with offices in New York, Toronto, Miami, Chicago, Paris, Buenos Aires, and Jerusalem.\u201d It gave its \u201cHumanitarian Award\u201d to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/israelpalestinenews.org\/movie-mogul-harvey-weinstein-september-gala-israeli-heart-mind\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Harvey Weinstein<\/a>\u00a0in 2015 despite the open secret of Weinstein\u2019s assaults on women.\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.charitynavigator.org\/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&amp;orgid=4469\">In 2011 it had an annual budget of<strong>\u00a0$24 million<\/strong>\u00a0and net assets of\u00a0<strong>$67 million<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 The Israel Project:<\/strong>\u00a0Founded in 2003, the Israel Project specializes in pro-Israel propaganda targeting the press and the American public. In 2009, a secret handbook commissioned by The Israel Project and written by Republican pollster and strategist Frank Luntz, \u201cThe Global Language Dictionary,\u201d was\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/newsweek\/2009\/07\/09\/chosen-words.html\">exposed by two Newsweek reporters<\/a>. The handbook\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.richardsilverstein.com\/2009\/07\/10\/the-israel-projects-secret-hasbara-handbook-exposed\">crafts language and talking points<\/a>\u00a0for Israel advocates in simplistic, diversionary, and dishonest ways. The organization has 70 employees and an\u00a0<strong>$11 million annual budget<\/strong>. In 2011 it opened additional bureaus in India and China and launched a website in Arabic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces (FIDF):<\/strong>\u00a0This American organization supports the Israeli armed forces. It hosts\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fidf.org\/page.aspx?pid=629\">lavish fundraisers<\/a>\u00a0and has fourteen regional offices in the U.S. and one in Latin America. FIDF also brings\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fidf.org\/page.aspx?pid=330\">hundreds of Israeli soldiers<\/a>to the U.S. every year to lecture at synagogues, universities, and schools in order to increase American support for Israeli policies. Campers will learn from high-level mentors, teachers, and business pioneers. ECI is currently funding tens of thousands of dollars worth of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.publicintegrity.org\/2012\/07\/30\/10457\/daily-disclosure-jewish-groups-run-anti-obama-ads-romney-visits-israel\">anti-Obama advertising<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 Leona M. and Harry B Helmsley Charitable Trust:<\/strong>\u00a0The trust fund is\u00a0<strong>valued at between\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejewishweek.com\/editorial-opinion\/gary-rosenblatt\/how-leona-helmsley-fortune-helping-israel\">$4 billion and $8 billion<\/a><\/strong>. But the courts ruled that the Leona and Harry Helmsley Trust Fund she had established after her husband\u2019s death was not legally bound to fund animals only, and that its grants should be directed solely at the discretion of the trustees she had appointed. Fortunately for the State of Israel, Mrs. Helmsley chose Sandor (Sandy) Frankel, 69, a local Jewish attorney who worked closely with her the last 18 years of her life, to be one of the four trustees who now oversee that major trust. Their\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidproject.org\/about\/our-campus-approach\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">objective<\/a>\u00a0is, \u201cwork[ing] directly with students and Israel groups to help them reach out to their peers and talk about Israel.\u201d The David Project has\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.charitynavigator.org\/index.cfm?bay=search.profile&amp;ein=161616489#.U8lUxMZ6flI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">annual income<\/a>\u00a0of $2,824,763. However, the source of this income is unclear.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022\u00a0Amcha Initiative:\u00a0<\/strong>The Amcha Initiative is a group whose\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amchainitiative.org\/mission-and-objectives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stated objective<\/a>\u00a0is to protect Jewish students from anti-Semitism.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amchainitiative.org\/how-itca-identifies-antisemitic-activity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Their definition<\/a>\u00a0of anti-Semitism is broad and encompasses virtually any criticism of Israel, including criticism of Israel\u2019s human rights abuses. The group also lists the Boycott Divest and Sanction movement as an example anti-Semitism. Their\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.charitynavigator.org\/index.cfm?bay=search.profile&amp;ein=460774311#.U8lYwMZ6flI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">annual income<\/a>\u00a0is $199,155. The source of this income is unclear.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022\u00a0Young Israel:\u00a0<\/strong>The National Council of Young Israel is a group of \u00a0146<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org\/jsource\/Judaism\/youngisrael.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0Orthodox Jewish congregations<\/a>. Starting in 1912, Young Israel\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youngisrael.org\/general-write-up.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">web page<\/a>\u00a0claims that the group has always been \u201cfiercely Zionist\u201d and even boasts the acquisition of arms for the Jewish terror group Haganah. Young Israel currently offers\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youngisrael.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">material support<\/a>\u00a0to the Israeli Defense Force as it engages in attacks on Palestinians in Gaza. Because Young Israel is an umbrella for over 100 individual non-profit organizations, it is difficult to ascertain the amount and sources of the group\u2019s income.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Ateret Cohanim:\u00a0<\/strong>American Friends of Ateret Cohanim is a non-profit organization based in Jerusalem. The purpose of the organization is the urban renewal of Jerusalem through\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jerusalemchai.org\/about.cfm?categoryID=101\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jewish gentrification<\/a>. Their web site boasts of a new Jewish presence in the Christian and Muslim quarters of the Old City, and proclaims Jerusalem to be a city belonging to every single Jew, in spite of the fact that Israel\u2019s annexation of East Jerusalem is still not recognized under\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pij.org\/details.php?id=650\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">international law<\/a>. The group maintains an office in New York with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.charitynavigator.org\/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&amp;orgid=4918#.U9bKNsZ6flI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">annual revenue<\/a>\u00a0of $1,054,618.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022\u00a0Elad:\u00a0<\/strong>The Ir David foundation (Amutat EL-AD) is a non-profit organization established in 1986 by David Be\u2019eri, a former elite military commander of\u00a0the IDF. According to their\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityofdavid.org.il\/en\/The-Ir-David-Foundation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">web page<\/a>, the group \u201cis dedicated to the preservation and development of the Biblical City of David and its environs.\u201d However, the Ir David foundation is best known for its policy of \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jpost.com\/Features\/In-Thespotlight\/Shake-up-at-City-of-David-309761\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Judaization of east Jerusalem<\/a>\u201d through forced evictions and housing purchases. In recent years, their activity in East Jerusalem has been linked to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jpost.com\/Features\/In-Thespotlight\/Shake-up-at-City-of-David-309761\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">violent clashes<\/a>\u00a0between Palestinians and the new Jewish residents. Ir David has a US auxiliary in New York called Friends of Ir David with total annual revenue of $5,884,950.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022\u00a0BBYO:\u00a0<\/strong>Its\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bbyo.org\/about\/\">website<\/a>\u00a0says: \u201cBBYO is the leading pluralistic teen movement aspiring to involve\u00a0<em>more Jewish teens in more meaningful Jewish experiences<\/em>. For 90 years, BBYO has provided identity enrichment and leadership development experiences for hundreds of thousands of Jewish teens.\u201d It\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bbyo.org\/about\/mission\/\">prides<\/a>\u00a0itself on its\u00a0\u201cunwavering commitment to the State of Israel.\u201d The site\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bbyo.org\/azabbg\/our_commitment_to_israel\/\">says<\/a>: \u201cBBYO\u2019s history is closely tied to that of the State of Israel. As the future leaders of the global Jewish community, it is our responsibility to learn about, appreciate and advocate for Israel.\u201d Its 2015 annual budget was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.charitynavigator.org\/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&amp;orgid=11742\"><strong>$27 million<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022\u00a0Israeli-American Council:\u00a0<\/strong>According to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/forward.com\/articles\/208879\/mitt-romney-slams-naive-barack-obama-at-israeli-am\/\"><em>Jewish Daily Forward<\/em><\/a>, the Israeli American Council (IAC) aims to establish the Israeli expatriate community living in the U.S. community \u201cas a \u2018strategic asset\u2019 for Israel in the U.S.\u201d The goal is to be a \u201ca potent political force in the future.\u201d\u00a0 IAC was established in Los Angeles in 2007, but expanded dramatically in 2013 when\u00a0 casino mogul Sheldon Adelson\u2019s began to serve as its main funder. About 700 expatriate Israelis participated in the \u201cfirst-ever national political conference exclusively devoted to the expat Israeli community\u201d in Nov. 2014.<\/p>\n<p>According to a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ejewishphilanthropy.com\/israeli-american-council-announces-major-u-s-expansion-plan\/\">2013 report<\/a>, IAC plans \u201cto unite the nearly 800,000 Israeli-Americans who reside in communities across the United States. The IAC\u2019s expansion plan includes opening a national headquarters and local chapters across the country\u2026 Programs will include cultural, educational, advocacy and social activities across age groups\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrent IAC programs include:<strong>\u00a0Tzav 8<\/strong>\u00a0(recruiting thousands for pro-Israel rallies); Financing the Israeli \u201cShlichim\u201d at all major campuses in Southern California; Organizing and funding the\u00a0<strong>Los Angeles Independence Day Festival<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the largest Jewish festival in North America, as well as dozens of ceremonies, holidays and mass events for the community;\u00a0<strong>Sifriyat Pijama B\u2019America<\/strong>, through which 10,000 families nationwide enjoy Hebrew bedtime books sent to their kids by mail, free of charge on a monthly basis;\u00a0<strong>IAC-BINA club<\/strong>, consisting of approximately 1,500 Israeli and American Jewish young adults who convene discussions and activities relating to Jewish identity and support for Israel; establishing and funding the\u00a0<strong>IAC-Care project<\/strong>\u00a0in which thousands of the community members volunteer and organize large scale drives; and\u00a0<strong>Mishelanu<\/strong>\u00a0(the leadership program for Israeli-Americans students).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIAC activities are funded by its board of directors, its members, and donors within the Israeli-American and the Pro-Israel American communities, including Sheldon and Miri Adelson, Haim and Cheryl Saban, Beny and Adele Alagem, Leo and Ruth David and David Wiener. It reports that its annual budget is\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.israeliamerican.org\/financial-report\">over $3 million<\/a>. Oddly, no 990 reports can be found for it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022\u00a0Israel-America Chamber of Commerce:<\/strong>\u00a0The Israel-America Chamber of Commerce (<a href=\"http:\/\/amcham.co.il\/why-amcham\/\">AmCham Israel<\/a>) is an organization of companies and individuals dedicated to the promotion\u00a0of two-way trade and investment between Israel and the United States of America. The U.S. Ambassador to Israel serves as Honorary Chairman of the AmCham.\u00a0Just one of its subsidiaries has a $100,000 annual budget.<\/p>\n<h3>Influential Pro-Israel Individuals<\/h3>\n<p><strong>An example of such an individual is the current US Ambassador to Israel, Daniel Shapiro<\/strong>, who gave a speech in which he detailed his extremely close, life-long ties to Israel, concluding: \u201c[A]s a committed Jewish American, with deep roots in the American Jewish community and warm bonds of affection with Israel, I will have an opportunity to draw on those associations to help make the U.S.-Israel relationship, strong as it is, even stronger in the years ahead.\u201d He stated that \u201censuring Israel\u2019s future\u201d drives all US policies. See \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/ifamericansknew.org\/us_ints\/po-israel.html\">US Ambassador: Support for Israel drives all US policies<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Howard Berman, Democratic Congressman from California<\/strong>, acknowledged in a 2008 interview with the Forward, \u201cEven before I was a Democrat, I was a Zionist.\u201d He went on to explain that \u201can interest in the Jewish state\u201d was one of the main reasons he first sought a seat on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, where he is the top Democrat. Berman, who is known as \u201cthe Congressman from Hollywood,\u201d also told the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/forward.com\/articles\/13244\/new-foreign-affairs-committee-chairman-draws-prais-\/#ixzz22hINDL5G\">Forward<\/a>, \u201cHe is particularly keen on getting the House more involved in Iran-related issues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Martin Indyk<\/strong>, former U.S. Ambassador to Israel (he was naturalized as an American citizen before being nominated for this position); currently Special Envoy for Israeli Palestinian Negotiations. At one point he had his security clearance\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2000\/WORLD\/meast\/09\/23\/israel.ambassador\/index.html?_s=PM:WORLD\">revoked<\/a>, the only time this has happened to a U.S. ambassador. See\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=inigiyfX4Dk\">video<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Haim Saban<\/strong>, multimedia mogul whose net worth is over\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/profile\/haim-saban\/\">$3 billion dollars<\/a>, has said,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2004\/09\/05\/business\/yourmoney\/05sab.html\">\u201cI\u2019m a one-issue guy and my issue is Israel.\u201d<\/a>\u00a0In 2010, he told New Yorker magazine that his greatest concern is to protect Israel by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/magazine\/2010\/05\/10\/the-influencer\">strengthening the United States-Israel relationship<\/a>.\u00a0Saban has bluntly\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/magazine\/2010\/05\/10\/the-influencer\">outlined his formula<\/a>\u00a0for gaining influence in American politics: make donations to political parties, establish think tanks, and control media outlets. He\u00a0tried to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/magazine\/2010\/05\/10\/the-influencer\">buy Time and Newsweek magazines<\/a>, and has made repeated bids for the Los Angeles Times because he considers the paper to be\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/magazine\/2010\/05\/10\/the-influencer\">pro-Palestinian<\/a>. He donated\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/haim-saban-considering-giving-to-obama-super-pacs\/\">$9 million\u00a0to Democrats<\/a>\u00a0in the 2002 election cycle alone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sheldon Adelson<\/strong>, a\u00a0businessman and\u00a0casino magnate, is worth over\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/profile\/sheldon-adelson\/\">$28 billion dollars<\/a>. He owns a number of resorts as well as the Israeli newspaper\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jpost.com\/Opinion\/Think-About-It-Sheldon-Adelson-and-democracy-381982\"><em>Israel Hayom<\/em><\/a>, the most largely circulated paper in Israel.\u00a0Adelson set a new record in political donations by giving\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2012\/09\/24\/sheldon-adelson-donations_n_1910094.html\">$70 million\u00a0<\/a>(to Republicans)\u00a0in the 2012 elections, nearly triple the previous highest amount. He also funds pro-Israel organizations such as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jta.org\/2013\/05\/23\/news-opinion\/united-states\/adelsons-donate-40-million-to-birthright\">Birthright Israel<\/a>, which takes thousands of young Jewish Americans on recruiting visits to Israel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rahm Emanuel\u00a0<\/strong>(full name Rahm Israel Emanuel),\u00a0powerful Democratic politician \u2013Congressman, chair of the House Democratic caucus, mayor of Chicago (despite allegations that he had not been a Chicago resident), in Bill Clinton\u2019s administration (had been Clinton\u2019s main\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/people\/profiles\/rahm-emanuel-foot-in-the-door-1212436.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fundraiser<\/a>), White House Chief of Staff under President Obama, etc. Volunteered with the Israeli military during the first Gulf War (his father had served in the pre-Israel terrorist group the Irgun), was\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2013\/02\/13\/us\/rahm-emanuel-fast-facts\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Israeli citizen<\/a>\u00a0until age of 18.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stuart Weitzman, shoe designer<\/strong>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jta.org\/news\/article\/2013\/02\/21\/3120251\/shoe-designer-gifts-one-million-dollars-to-maccabi-usa\">donated $1 million<\/a>\u00a0to Maccabi USA. (<a title=\"Promoting Islamophobia\" href=\"http:\/\/www.councilforthenationalinterest.org\/new\/lobby\/promoting-islamophobia\/\">more<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ifamericansknew.org\/media\/weider.html\">Eric Weider<\/a>, publisher of\u00a0<em>American History, Civil War Times, Military History<\/em>, and eight other history magazines.<\/p>\n<p>Hollywood tycoon\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ynetnews.com\/articles\/0,7340,L-4185843,00.html\">Arnon Milchan<\/a>, who produced\u00a0<em>Pretty Woman,<\/em>\u00a0<em>Mr. &amp; Mrs. Smith<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Fight Club<\/em><em>,<\/em>\u00a0worked for the \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ynetnews.com\/articles\/0,7340,L-4096937,00.html\">Mossad<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no card to carry that says one is part of the Israel lobby. But taken as a whole, this sampling of powerful pro-Israel organizations demonstrates how information is systematically skewed before it reaches the American public. Politicians and journalists are systematically harassed, often losing jobs, if they step out of line.<\/p>\n<p>There is no comparable pressure from the Arab-American side, much less from stateless Palestinians, who have no army, little money, and very little cultural influence or PR savvy. By contrast to the $3 million given by pro-Israel PACs in 2010, the two Arab-American PACs\u2014Arab American Leadership Council PAC and Arab American Political Action Committee\u2014gave a total of $36,500.<\/p>\n<p>The Israel lobby played a major role in the\u00a0<a title=\"History of US-Israel Relations\" href=\"http:\/\/www.councilforthenationalinterest.org\/new\/lobby\/history-of-us-israel-relations\/\">creation of Israel<\/a>\u00a0and continues to exert strong influence on US foreign policy, often in ways that harm American interests and security. It was a major factor in promoting the Iraq war, it continues to advocate for war with Iran, and it has played a central role in fostering Islamophobia in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014\u2013<\/p>\n<p><strong>* PACs:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Usually a PAC can only donate $5,000 for a primary and $5,000 for general elections. But with thirty \u201cunaffiliated\u201d PACs marching in lockstep behind AIPAC, this can balloon up to $300,000 for any given candidate. The extent of this influence remains hidden from view. They also use \u201cbundling,\u201d which means taking various individual donations and handing them over en masse to a candidate, so that on the books it shows up as several individual donations, but everyone except the FEC understands who\u2019s really controlling the money.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A 1996 book called\u00a0<strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.middleeastbooks.com\/aetbookclub\/nonfiction\/curtiss-stealthpacs.html\">Stealth PACs<\/a><\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>reports that \u201cin\u00a01988, Israel\u2019s lobby had 78 PACs spending more than $5.5 million to bribe Congress to vote more aid for Israel. That was\u00a0more than total contributions\u00a0<em>together<\/em>\u00a0of the two next largest special interests in the United States\u2014the real estate lobby and the teamsters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/pacs\/industry.php?txt=Q05&amp;cycle=2010\">During the 2010 elections<\/a>, Israel-affiliated contributions were the third highest of any special interest at nearly $3 million (with almost equal amounts given to Democrats and Republicans). But because that number was broken into pieces and hidden behind unrelated names, pro-Israel contributions didn\u2019t \u201cofficially\u201d make the top twenty.<\/p>\n<p>One example is Washington Pac, founded by Morris Amitay, former head of AIPAC. Its website\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpac.com\/about_the_washington_pac.htm\">states<\/a>: \u201c\u2026over three million dollars has been carefully distributed on a bipartisan basis to Senators, Representatives, and candidates\u2026 Its Capitol Hill location enables the PAC to meet with Representatives and Senators on an almost daily basis. The Advisory Board holds regular luncheons with U.S. Senate candidates, and the PAC\u2019s newsletter has earned an esteemed reputation for its analysis of the U.S. Senate races.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 Teva<\/strong>:\u00a0Not all PACs with connections to Israel are included in the pro-Israel list. For example, the parents company of the Teva PAC\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/pacs\/lookup2.php?cycle=2014&amp;strID=C00434811\">Teva Pharmaceuticals USA<\/a>, is\u00a0<strong>Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, an Israeli company, the world\u2019s largest generic drug maker<\/strong>.
