(NaturalHealth365<\/span><\/a>) America has long been recognized as a world leader in technology.\u00a0 But in a short-sighted attempt to stay ahead of the global race toward the latest and greatest wireless technology, 5G, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is acting way beyond the scope of their power<\/b>, according to local and state authorities decrying the federal decision.<\/span><\/p>\n Now, officials around the country are condemning the new policy<\/span><\/a>, perhaps nowhere more strongly than in Seattle, where Mayor Jenny Durkan\u00a0and City Attorney Peter Holmes recently announced\u00a0that they would appeal the order in federal court.<\/span><\/p>\n New order from the FCC is pure overreach, critics say<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n A recent\u00a0order from the FCC streamlines the ability of private wireless companies to install technology infrastructure,\u00a0including small cells (akin to mini cell phone towers), in cities in towns. The problem is,\u00a0such installations fly in the face of local and state-level regulations. Tenets of the order include the following:<\/span><\/p>\n Proponents of the FCC order state that it will \u2018help America\u2019 stay on the leading edge of the 5G wireless<\/span><\/a> race and enjoy economic supremacy over other contenders, including the other known tech titan China.<\/span><\/p>\n But local and state administrators call foul.\u00a0 It\u2019s an \u201cillegal overstep,\u201d <\/i>according to Mayor Jenny Durkan and City Attorney Peter Holmes. It impedes local authority to serve as trustees of public property and to fulfill cities\u2019 public health and safety responsibilities while establishing unworkable standards.
