The Jussie Smollett case is starting to get weird.<\/p>\n
According to\u00a0NBC5 in Chicago<\/a>:<\/p>\n Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx recused herself from the investigation into the alleged attack into “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett.<\/p>\n First Assistant State’s Attorney Joseph Magats will be the acting state’s attorney for the matter, a spokesperson said in an emailed statement Tuesday. No further explanation was given as to why Foxx recused herself.<\/p>\n “Out of an abundance of caution, the decision to recuse herself was made to address potential questions of impartiality based upon familiarity with potential witnesses in the case,” the spokesperson said in an email.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Maybe that’s because she really does know the\u00a0politically active,\u00a0politically connected<\/a>\u00a0Smollett’s friends, for\u00a0sure. Smollett’s mom, Janet Smollett, is\u00a0reportedly<\/a>\u00a0good friends with 1960s radical Angela Davis and Davis has mentored the young Jussie throughout much of his life.\u00a0 Davis, a communist,\u00a0is a political celebrity on the far left, with an image second only to that of\u00a0Che Guevara. Academic\u00a0honors<\/a>\u00a0are still being\u00a0showered<\/a>\u00a0on her and\u00a0leftist luminaries<\/a>\u00a0always\u00a0look<\/a>\u00a0to have their\u00a0picture with hers. Rest assured, she’s connected with today’s Democrats as one of their\u00a0radicals manqu\u00e9.\u00a0I can’t see her not being able to get a phone call through to some of them.<\/p>\n It’s also quite likely that as the case is increasingly exposed as a hoax (get a load of\u00a0this<\/a>\u00a0detail), prosecuting that act\u00a0wouldn’t make any ambitious prosecutor politically popular. And sure enough, Foxx is ambitious and wants to be popular. Most important, her\u00a0recusal\u00a0seems to suggest that Foxx is part of the Chicago Democratic Party political machine, and as a notable hip-hop\u00a0black film-maker\u00a0has argued<\/a>, the hoax itself\u00a0may well extend to them.<\/p>\n It certainly would explain a recusal.<\/p>\n Foxx, according to this flattering\u00a0Chicago Tribune profile<\/a>, is very much a player in Chicago politics, a favorite rising star among the Democrats.<\/p>\n She has only been in office for a little more than a year, but Cook County\u2019s top prosecutor\u00a0Kim Foxx<\/strong>\u00a0is already attracting admiring attention from\u00a0Democrats<\/a>\u00a0on the national stage.<\/p>\n Foxx on Wednesday night was feted by the party\u2019s Washington, D.C., elite at a gala dinner where she received the\u00a0Gabrielle Giffords<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0Rising Star Award from Emily\u2019s List, the major political action committee that works to elect pro-choice women nationwide.<\/p>\n The state\u2019s attorney shared a table with Sen.\u00a0Cory Booker<\/strong>\u00a0and met with House Minority Leader\u00a0Nancy Pelosi<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>at the event, also attended by Democratic gubernatorial nominee\u00a0J.B. Pritzker<\/strong>.<\/p>\n That\u2019s the kind of clout that would be very helpful in a run for higher office.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The Chicago cops investigating the claimed hate attack on Smollett have located two Nigerians affiliated with the cast of the Empire show Smollett\u00a0had been on, and reportedly learned from them\u00a0that Smollett paid them to stage the attack. The cops have since dismissed them as suspects and now seem to be focusing on Smollett. Not easy\u00a0if Smollett’s friends are your friends and you’re all part of the same leftist ‘family.’<\/p>\n But the argument of Hollywood hip-hop film maker\u00a0Tariq Nasheed, who also goes by the names\u00a0‘K-Flex’ and ‘King Flex<\/a>,’ is also strengthened by recusal.<\/p>\n As I noted\u00a0here<\/a>\u00a0a couple days ago, Nasheed’s\u00a0series of tweets<\/a>\u00a0raised\u00a0suspicions that the hoax had a political\u00a0nexus, quite likely from Democratic politicians, informed by gay special interests promoting their agenda. He said he was tipped off by the fact that shortly before the attack, there was an ‘anti-lynching’ law on the table sponsored by Democrats\u00a0Kamala Harris and Cory Booker<\/a>, both of whom are running for president, and at the last minute, some language specifying homophobia was added to the bill. He was suspicious the whole Smollett attack\u00a0might have been a staged set-up to get the largely irrelevant\u00a0law passed with Harris and Booker racking up points with voters. After all, when exactly did the last lynching in the U.S. occur, and aren’t there murder laws already on the books?<\/p>\n Then the phony attack on gay and black actor Smollett happened, and now it seems to have\u00a0blown up in their faces,\u00a0exposed as a hoax.<\/p>\n Because the fact that it happened in Chicago and not some stereotypical place like Texas or Mississippi\u00a0is a red flag. That the Democrats inserted\u00a0last-minute gay language in their lynch law bill is a red flag. That Harris\u00a0called the whole thing a lynching to match her pre-made bill is a red flag. Now a Chicago official recuses herself? It really looks like this thing doesn’t end with the Nigerians.<\/p>\n
