Huge.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NYGovCuomo?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@NYGovCuomo<\/a> JUST signed the Reproductive Health Act into law \u2014 a big win towards securing safe, legal abortion &amp; access to contraception for all! <\/p>\n<p>Can&#39;t wait to see other states follow New York&#39;s lead to protect our health and rights. \ud83d\ude0e <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/1nH9fnIJDK\">https:\/\/t.co\/1nH9fnIJDK<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Planned Parenthood Action (@PPact) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PPact\/status\/1087871219913932800?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 23, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew York\u2019s law is barbaric and inhumane and rejects modern science and medical advancements that reveal the development and humanity of life in the womb,\u201d Rose continued. \u201cMillions of Americans are waking up to the barbaric reality of abortion and rejecting it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/01\/15\/poll-75-americans-say-abortion-should-be-restricted\/\">Marist poll<\/a>\u00a0showed 75 percent of Americans want substantial restrictions on abortion, including 60 percent of Democrats and 61 percent of those who identify as pro-choice.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday \u2013 the 46<sup>th<\/sup>anniversary of\u00a0<em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>, Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed into law the\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2017\/s2796\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">Reproductive Health Act<\/a>, which allows abortions \u201cat any time when necessary to protect a patient\u2019s life or health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When the U.S. Supreme Court invented a right to abortion in 1973, however, it defined the \u2018health\u2019 exception to include any number of factors, such as \u201cphysical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman\u2019s age.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne thing that this law reveals to the nation is the extent and the extremism of the 1973\u00a0<em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>\u00a0decision, which allows laws such as this one to exist,\u201d Rose said. \u201cIt was\u00a0<em>Roe<\/em>\u00a0that legalized abortion through all nine months of pregnancy in this country.
