Maine Gov. Paul LePage, a Republican, left a note describing a controversial election as \u201cstolen\u201d after signing off on the results, NECN<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

LePage certified Democratic Rep.-elect Jared Golden\u2019s victory over Rep. Bruce Poliquin, a Republican, which Golden won thanks to the state\u2019s ranked-choice voting law. Poliquin initially sued to prevent Golden from being named the winner, but a federal judge dismissed the lawsuit in December. When signing off on the results, LePage wrote \u201cstolen election\u201d next to his signature.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve signed off on the CD2 election result as it\u2019s no longer in federal court. Ranked Choice Voting didn\u2019t result in a true majority as promised-simply a plurality measured differently,\u201d LePage wrote in a statement on Twitter, which was accompanied by a photo of the certificate. \u201cIt didn\u2019t keep big money out of politics & didn\u2019t result in a more civil election.\u201d<\/p>\n
