ABC News chief legal analyst and Mediaite founder\u00a0Dan Abrams<\/strong>\u00a0said\u00a0Michael Flynn<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cgot railroaded\u201d at his sentencing hearing on Tuesday, calling the district court judge who presided \u201ceither unprepared\u201d or \u201cvindictive.\u201d<\/p>\n Abrams addressed the \u201castonishing hearing\u201d of Flynn \u2014\u00a0in which the former\u00a0former national security adviser\u2019s sentencing was postponed to March 13 \u2014 on his SiriusXM show on the P.O.T.U.S. channel Tuesday.<\/p>\n \u201cOn the whole, I think he was treated unfairly today,\u201d Abrams said of Flynn. \u201cI have sympathy for Michael Flynn now, and it\u2019s fair to say that at this hearing he got railroaded.\u201d<\/p>\n Flynn, who plead guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia, faced a fierce reprimand from U.S. District Judge\u00a0Emmet Sullivan<\/strong>\u00a0over the course of the dramatic hearing. Sullivan said he was \u201cnot hiding my disgust\u201d for Flynn\u2019s crime, telling Flynn \u201carguably, you sold your country out.\u201d While Abrams criticized Flynn\u2019s team for including language in their sentencing memo that suggested he was entrapped, he said that did not excuse the judge for making unfounded accusations.<\/p>\n Sullivan questioned if prosecutors could have charged Flynn with treason for his work as an unregistered agent of Turkey during the campaign, but later walked back those scathing remarks and apologized \u2014 confessing he messed up the timeline of Flynn\u2019s work as an unregistered agent.<\/p>\n Abrams seemed particularly troubled by Judge Sullivan asking prosecutors about treason. \u201cWords matter\u201d Abrams asserted, but noted while he thought Flynn was treated \u201cunfairly,\u201d he did not think it was politically motivated.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a judge who has been appointed to the bench by Reagan, Bush and Clinton,\u201d Abrams said. \u201cI think a lot of people on the right were counting on him to be the savior of Michael Flynn \u2014 but it ended up being the opposite today in court.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe was either unprepared, or he was just being vindictive,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n
