Update:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>The White House says that the ruling will be put on hold during the\u00a0appeals process after California Attorney General Xavier Becerra indicated his coalition of Democratic attorneys general would appeal the ruling.<\/p>\n

“Today\u2019s ruling is an assault on 133 million Americans with preexisting conditions, on the 20 million Americans who rely on the ACA\u2019s consumer protections for health care, and on America\u2019s faithful progress toward affordable health care for all Americans,” said Beccera in a statement, while a spokeswoman for his office vowed a “quick challenge to O’Connor’s ruling,” according to\u00a0Bloomberg<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In response to the ruling, President Trump on Friday tweeted: “As I predicted all along,\u00a0Obamacare has been struck down as an UNCONSTITUTIONAL disaster!<\/strong>\u00a0Now Congress must pass a STRONG law that provides GREAT healthcare and protects pre-existing conditions.
