Sen. Lindsey Graham on Sunday declared he\u2019ll call for an investigation of the Democrats\u2019 rollout of Christine Blasey Ford\u2019s sexual assault allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, calling it \u201ca despicable process.\u201d<\/p>\n
In an interview on ABC News\u2019\u00a0\u201cThis Week,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0the South Carolina Republican asserted there was a betrayal of Ford\u2019s trust in leaking her initial confidential accusation.<\/p>\n \u201cWho in [California Democrat Sen. Dianne] Feinstein’s office betrayed her trust?\u201d Graham said. \u201cWhy Dr. Ford didn’t know we were willing to come to California. We’ll do a wholesale investigation of what I think was a despicable process.”<\/p>\n Graham added that he also hoped an investigation would reveal\u00a0\u201cwho referred Dr. Ford to a lawyer that was a political activist\u201d and whether anyone on the Senate Judicial Committee sent the letter to the media \u201cso the hearing would be delayed.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201c<\/b>Words were put in his mouth that he didn’t say,\u201d he added. \u201cHe’s accused of being a gang\u00a0r<\/b>apist. A bumbling, stumbling drunk.<\/b>\u00a0A degenerate person. He was hit by a truck. My problem is with the people who did this to him, not how he responded. I’ve known him for 20 years. We’ll get to the bottom of how he was treated, and why.\u201d<\/p>\n Graham also reiterated his intention to vote for Kavanaugh absent a \u201cbombshell\u201d uncovered by the FBI as it investigates the allegation.<\/p>\n \u201cI think he’s highly qualified,\u201d Graham asserted. \u201cHis life was ruined here. I’m going to vote for him unless some bombshell comes out that I don’t know about. I’m going to look into the process that led to this\u2026 effort to destroy this good man.\u201d<\/p>\n He also took a shot at Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii,\u00a0for telling men to \u201cshut up.\u201d<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n \u201cSenator Hirono said men need to shut up,\u201d he said. \u201cI got [this] job from the men and women of South Carolina. I’m not going to shut up.\u201d<\/p>\n
