<\/a><\/p>\nOn Monday, Jeff Catalan of Newport, RI called Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse’s office with “allegations concerning a rape on a boat in August of 1985,” according to a\u00a0transcript<\/a>\u00a0of the phone call.<\/p>\n Catalan claimed that in\u00a01985, “a close acquaintance of\u00a0the constituent was sexually assaulted by\u00a0two heavily inebriated men she referred to\u00a0at the time as\u00a0Brett and Mark<\/strong>,” reported CNN, citing the transcript and noting that the incident reportedly\u00a0took place on\u00a0a boat in\u00a0Newport harbor. After Catalan’s friend learned about the assault, “he and another individual went to\u00a0the harbor, located the boat the victim had described and physically confronted the two men, leaving them with\u00a0significant injuries<\/strong>,” the report notes.<\/p>\n Whitehouse, a member of the Judiciary Committee, asked Kavanaugh about the incident Tuesday, which Kavanaugh denied.<\/p>\n “No,” Kavanaugh said in a phone call with the Committee.\u00a0“I was not in Newport, haven’t been on a boat in Newport. Not with Mark Judge on a boat, nor all those three things combined. This is just completely made up, or at least not me.
