It has been verified<\/a>\u00a0by a source who claims she was there that then-CIA Director William Casey<\/a>\u00a0did in fact say the controversial and often-disputed line \u201cWe\u2019ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false,\u201d reportedly in 1981.<\/p>\n

Despite Casey being\u00a0under investigation\u00a0by Congress for being involved in a major disinformation plot involving the overthrow of Libya\u2019s Qaddafi in 1981, and despite Casey arguing on the record that\u00a0the CIA<\/a>\u00a0should have a legal right to spread disinformation via the\u00a0mainstream news<\/a>\u00a0that same year, this quote continues to be argued by people who weren\u2019t there and apparently cannot believe a CIA Director would ever say such a thing.<\/p>\n

But spreading disinfo is precisely what the CIA would \u2014 and\u00a0did<\/i>\u00a0\u2014 do.<\/p>\n

This 1975 clip of testimony given during a\u00a0House Intelligence Committee hearing has the agency admitting on record that the CIA creates and uses disinformation against the American people.<\/p>\n
