Christine Blasey Ford: Woman Who Accused Kavanaugh in Letter Comes Forward<\/h1>\n

Christine Blasey Ford has identified herself as the anonymous woman whowrote a letter to Rep. Anna Eshoo<\/a>\u00a0alleging Judge Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when they were in high school, which eventually made its way to an official submission on Kavanaugh\u2019s record.<\/p>\n

Ford spoke to\u00a0The Washington Post\u00a0<\/em><\/a>in an exclusive report about the event in question: more specifically, a summer evening in the 1980s in which Kavanaugh was \u201cstumbling drunk\u201d and assaulted her in a bedroom at a party, she claims.<\/p>\n

In an updated statement, Kavanaugh said\u00a0at the White House on Monday<\/a>, \u201cThis is a completely false allegation. I have never done anything like what the accuser describes\u2014to her or to anyone. Because this never happened, I had no idea who was making this accusation until she identified herself yesterday. I am willing to talk to the Senate Judiciary Committee in any way the Committee deems appropriate to refute this false allegation, from 36 years ago, and defend my integrity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kavanaugh\u2019s Georgetown Prep classmate,\u00a0Mark Judge<\/a>, who is also named in the letter, issued a\u00a0statement to the Weekley Standard<\/a>\u00a0after Ford came forward saying, \u201cNow that the anonymous person has been identified and has spoken to the press, I repeat my earlier statement that I have no recollection of any of the events described in today\u2019s Post article or attributed to her letter.\u201d<\/p>\n

The letter was sent to the FBI by Senator Dianne Feinstein, who has since\u00a0released a statement on Ford<\/a>, saying, \u201cI support Mrs. Ford\u2019s decision to share her story, and now that she has, it is in the hands of the FBI to conduct an investigation.\u201d The California Democrat is the ranking member of her party on the Senate Judiciary Committee. \u201cBrett Kavanaugh physically and sexually assaulted me during high school in the early 1980\u2019s. \u2026 It is upsetting to discuss sexual assault and its repercussions, yet I felt guilty and compelled as a citizen about the idea of not saying anything,\u201d Ford wrote.<\/p>\n

Prior to that, an archive of her LinkedIn reveals that she has been a visiting professor at Pepperdine University, a research psychologist for Stanford University\u2019s Department of Psychiatry, and a professor at the Stanford School Of Medicine Collaborative Clinical Psychology Program.<\/p>\n

Ford received her undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She then received a Master\u2019s Degree in psychology at Pepperdine University, followed by a Ph.D. in\u00a0Educational Psychology: Research Design at the University of Southern California. Finally, she received a Master\u2019s in Education from Stanford University.<\/p>\n

Ford graduated from Holton-Arms School in 1984. Holton-Arms School is an all-girls school in Bethesda, Maryland, which is located seven miles away from Georgetown Prep, the\u00a0all-boys school Kavanaugh attended during the same period.<\/a><\/p>\n

Ford has written about\u00a0the cognitive affect of the September 11<\/a>\u00a0terrorist attacks, too. She and her co-authors wrote, \u201c[Our]\u00a0findings suggest that there may be a range of traumatic experience most conducive to growth and they also highlight the important contributions of cognitive and coping variables to psychological thriving in short- and longer-term periods following traumatic experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

In another article, Ford and her co-authors revealed the effects of meditation with yoga on depressed patients,\u00a0writing,<\/a>\u00a0\u201cResults indicate that significantly more meditation group participants experienced a remission [of depression] than did controls at 9\u2010month follow\u2010up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ford also\u00a0signed a letter<\/a>\u00a0along with other health professionals demanding that President Donald Trump stop his controversial family separation policy at the U.S.-Mexico border.<\/p>\n

She told The Washington Post she is a registered Democrat and has made small campaign contributions to Democratic organizations. FEC records show that she contributed $10 to the Democratic National Committee, $5 the ActBlue PAC and $27 to Senator Bernie Sanders\u2019 presidential campaign\u00a0via ActBlue<\/a>\u00a0in 2017. She also contributed $35 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and $3.50 to ActBlue in 2014.<\/p>\n
