{"id":103320,"date":"2018-09-06T10:53:57","date_gmt":"2018-09-06T14:53:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=103320"},"modified":"2018-09-06T10:54:44","modified_gmt":"2018-09-06T14:54:44","slug":"trump-saboteur-op-ed-backfires-la-times-calls-a-coward-greenwald-unelected-cabal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=103320","title":{"rendered":"Trump Saboteur Op-Ed Backfires: LA Times Calls &#8220;A Coward&#8221;; Greenwald: &#8220;Unelected Cabal&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more-->ZeroHedge.com<\/p>\n<p>An op-ed written in the New York Times by an anonymous &#8220;senior official in the Trump administration&#8221; has drawn harsh rebuke from both sides of the aisle and beyond &#8211; after everyone from President Trump to Glenn Greenwald to the\u00a0<em>Los Angeles Times<\/em>\u00a0chimed in with various criticisms.<\/p>\n<p>The author, who claims to be actively working\u00a0against Trump in collusion with other senior officials\u00a0in what they\u00a0call a\u00a0&#8220;resistance inside the Trump administration,&#8221; has now been labeled\u00a0everything from a coward, to treasonous, to nonexistent.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, as expected,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2018-09-05\/trump-trashes-gutless-writer-pathetic-reckless-selfish-nyt-op-ed-writer\">lashed out<\/a>\u00a0at the &#8220;failing&#8221; New York Times &#8211; before questioning whether the the mystery official\u00a0really exists, and that if they do, the New York Times should\u00a0reveal the author&#8217;s identity as a matter of national security.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Does the so-called \u201cSenior Administration Official\u201d really exist, or is it just the Failing New York Times with another phony source? If the GUTLESS anonymous person does indeed exist, the Times must, for National Security purposes, turn him\/her over to government at once!<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDonaldTrump\/status\/1037464177269514240?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 5, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>What we don&#8217;t imagine the anonymous author or the\u00a0<em>Times\u00a0<\/em>saw coming was the onslaught of criticism coming from the center and left &#8211; those who stand to benefit the most from Trump&#8217;s fall from grace, or at least probably wouldn&#8217;t mind it.<\/p>\n<p>In an op-ed\u00a0which appeared hours after the\u00a0<strong><em>NYT<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0piece, Jessica Roy of the\u00a0<strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/opinion\/la-ol-enter-the-fray-no-you-re-not-part-of-the-resistance-1536182473-htmlstory.html\">Los Angeles Times<\/a>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>writes: &#8220;<strong>No, anonymous Trump official, you&#8217;re not &#8216;part of the resistance.&#8217; You&#8217;re a coward<\/strong>&#8221; for not going\u00a0<em>far enough<\/em>\u00a0to stop Trump and in fact enabling him.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>If they really believe there&#8217;s a need to subvert the president to protect the country,\u00a0<strong>they should be getting this person out of the White House. But they&#8217;re too cowardly and afraid of the possible implications<\/strong>. They hand-wave the notion thusly:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven the instability many witnessed, there were early whispers within the cabinet of invoking the 25th Amendment, which would start a complex process for removing the president. But no one wanted to precipitate a constitutional crisis.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>How is it that utilizing the 25th Amendment of the Constitution would cause a crisis, but admitting to subverting a democratically elected leader wouldn&#8217;t?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>If you&#8217;re reading this, senior White House official, know this: You are not resisting Donald Trump. You are enabling him for your own benefit. That doesn&#8217;t make you an unsung hero. For starters,\u00a0<em>Bloomberg<\/em>\u00a0White House reporter Jennifer Jacobs points out that the\u00a0<em>New York Times<\/em>\u00a0revealed that a man wrote the op-ed, which rules out Kellyanne Conway, Nikki Haley, Ivanka and\u00a0Melania (the latter two being\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2018\/09\/05\/politics\/donald-trump-mystery-op-ed\/index.html\">CNN&#8217;s suggestions<\/a>).<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">NYT tweet suggests the anonymous senior admin official is a man &#8212; &quot;he.&quot; <\/p>\n<p>The official complains Trump &quot;engages in repetitive rants, and his impulsiveness results in half-baked, ill-informed and occasionally reckless decisions.&quot; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/HsNLRTCK5d\">https:\/\/t.co\/HsNLRTCK5d<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6GRD4Lbdbn\">pic.twitter.com\/6GRD4Lbdbn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Jennifer Jacobs (@JenniferJJacobs) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JenniferJJacobs\/status\/1037434267016552449?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 5, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>A second clue comes from the language used in the op-ed, and in particular\u00a0&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/lodestar.jpg\">Lodestar<\/a>&#8221; &#8211; a rare word used by Mike Pence in at least one speech.
