Rick Scott, who is expected to run\u00a0for U.S. Senate in 2018, has been\u00a0praised for the way he\u2019s handled the state\u2019s coordinated response and disbursed resources in the wake of Hurricane Irma.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">That hasn\u2019t stopped him from rekindling the spat he had with\u00a0Mayor Andrew Gillum last year\u00a0during last year\u2019s Hurricane Hermine over offers to restore power to Tallahassee\u2019s electric utility customers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\"><span class=\"exclude-from-newsgate\"><strong>Remember this?:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tallahassee.com\/story\/news\/2016\/09\/06\/scott-remains-vexed-citys-hermine-response\/89938686\/\" data-track-label=\"inline|intext|n\/a\">Scott remains vexed by city&#8217;s Hermine response<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\"><span class=\"exclude-from-newsgate\"><strong>More:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tallahassee.com\/story\/news\/2016\/09\/04\/politics-power-gillum-pushes-back-critics\/89862318\/\" data-track-label=\"inline|intext|n\/a\">The politics of power? And so now we have daily calls \u2014 I\u2019ll start them tomorrow, twice a day calls \u2014 and so I have a commitment. I have 23,000 people coming down here from the utilities\u2026 We\u2019ll start putting out a report tomorrow: How many outages. What everybody is doing. He took a tacit swipe at Gillum and city managers for their slow response to restoring power after 80 percent of customers lost electricity following Hermine. Power wasn&#8217;t fully restored until a week after the storm, and Scott&#8217;s political allies blamed Gillum for refusing Scott&#8217;s help.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"p-text\">Scott was criticized for using the disaster to stage photo ops clearing road debris.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">\u201cSo by doing that, if you look at (Hurricane)\u00a0Matthew, how much faster we got power back everywhere in contrast to Tallahassee. I couldn\u2019t get them (Tallahassee) to take resources or anything. Let me tell you, everyone wants my help now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">After learning of Scott\u2019s statement, Gillum \u2014 who has been at the Leon County Emergency Operations Center since early Sunday \u2014 shook his head and at first said he didn\u2019t want to respond.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">\u201cWe\u2019re in the middle of a natural disaster in Florida.
