Natural Resources Defense Council Takes Action Against FCC Regarding 5G Small Cell Tower Installation<\/b><\/span><\/h1>\n

Requesting Statements From Concerned Citizens<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The NRDC is challenging the legality of the March 30, 2018\u00a0Federal Communications Commission (FCC)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0 order exempting\u00a0\u201csmall wireless facilities\u201d<\/span><\/a>\u00a0from environmental review.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Arthur Firstenburg from the\u00a0Cell Tower Task Force<\/span><\/a>, The NRDC is requesting statements be sent to them about biological and environmental harm caused by\u00a05G<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and other wireless infrastructure.<\/span><\/p>\n

These statements are necessary to sue the FCC in court and invalidate the FCC\u2019s recent action.\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Statements should be emailed by July 2, 2018 to\u00a0<\/b>nrdcinfo@nrdc.org<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0with \u201cReference Case No. 18-1135\u201d in the subject line.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

In September 2017,\u00a0180 scientists and doctors demanded a moratorium<\/span><\/a>\u00a0on the installation of 5G small cell tower infrastructure due to\u00a0biological and environmental risks.<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

There has been outcry about the installation of small cell towers all over the world. \u00a0This has been\u00a0reported<\/span><\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0many media sources<\/span><\/a>\u00a0including\u00a0U.S. broadcast news stations<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 The Telecom Industry is being referred to as\u00a0\u201cBig Wireless\u201d<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and compared to \u201cBig Tobacco.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The FCC\u2019s ruling defines \u201csmall wireless facilities<\/span><\/a>\u201d as any facilities that are up to 50 feet tall, OR do not extend more than ten percent higher than other adjacent structures, whichever is greater \u2014 OR the antennas do not extend more than ten percent higher than the structure they are mounted on.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is important to understand that virtually\u00a0NO wireless facilities<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(not just 5G) that will be built from now on will be subject to environmental or historic preservation review because of this legislation.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are\u00a0decades of research<\/span><\/a>\u00a0that have confirmed\u00a0all sources of wireless WiFi radiation<\/span><\/a>are harmful.\u00a0\u00a0FCC employees\u00a0<\/span><\/a>are completely ignoring \u201cThe Precautionary Principle<\/span><\/a>\u201d when\u00a0forcing this new technology<\/span><\/a>\u00a0on communities.\u00a0 Legislation regarding new technology is 20+ years old and has\u00a0always favored the Telecom Industry<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ten U.S. Indian tribes are\u00a0also challenging the FCC\u2019s ruling<\/span><\/a>\u00a0because it also\u00a0exempts small wireless facilities<\/span><\/a>\u00a0from review under the National Historic Preservation Act.<\/span><\/p>\n
